Guadeloupean guitarist and composer Tinou Lavital has a long and distinguished career behind him. After arriving in Paris, he successfully trained with Gérard Laviny, Al Lirvat and Roland Louis. Without exception, the orchestras he set up met with success and toured extensively. In the late 70s, he formed the group Les Pyromanes with, among others, the Némorin brothers, Daniel on guitar and Guy on vocals, and Jocelyn Delannay on keyboards. The group released a highly acclaimed debut EP, Solidarité, and then this first album, Fire, Vol. 1, released in 1979 by its boss’s brand-new publishing house, Antilles Musique Diffusion, but which was never followed by a Vol. 2… All the more reason to rush to this explosive mix of cadence, compas, jazz and Afro influences, because, yes, Fire is more than worth the detour. And by the way, in this family where everyone’s a musician, let me remind you that among the children are singer Samantha and guitarist Ralph, two of the leading lights of the current generation of Caribbean jazz.
