đ„đșđ·đșđ¶ 45 years ago, the Kassav’ adventure took shape, following the meeting of Jacob Desvarieux and Pierre-Edouard DĂ©cimus. Love And Ka Dance, the first album, was released in 1979, produced by Freddy Marshall, and also featuring the participation of Georges DĂ©cimus. I refer you to Pierre-Edouard’s biography to savor all the details of this fascinating story. Zouk had not yet arrived, and Kassav’ was still only the name of the first track on the album – but would be kept for the group. There’s funk and above all drums, between Ka and Mas St-Jean, and already the music is addictive. The brass section features Kako Bessot and Alain Hatot! In 2019, the Heavenly Sweetness label reissued this historic album, combining the French and American editions. The album’s cover art, illustrated by Rudy Jabour with superb photos by the recently deceased Florence Pajaniandy, will also be noticed. Go zouk soon!
[Edit] On Instagram, I had to delete the cover images… No comment. This is our place.
