Music of Many Colours – Fela Anikulapo-Kuti & Roy Ayers, 1980

,

🌍🎷🔥🤝🎶 In 1979, at the end of a tour of Nigeria where Roy Ayers was supporting Fela, the two men decided to record this Music Of Many Colours together, which was released the following year. The two sides of the album feature two unique long tracks as Fela loved them, somewhere between afrobeat and jazz-funk, with an irresistible pulse. « 2000 Blacks Got To Be Free » and « Africa – Center Of The World » unite the messages and demands of the two men, who would meet again a few years later when Fela visited America. And the Knitting Factory label had the excellent idea of reissuing this album in 2019, which had become difficult to find in good condition.
