Isabelle Mwana Ya Kin / Macaro – Les Bantous de la Capitale, 1974

,

🎶🎵🎤🌍🎉 In 1974, Les Bantous de la Capitale were already veterans of the Congolese rumba. The orchestra had been founded before independence and was the lifeblood of the north bank of the river in Brazzaville, while on the other side, in Kinshasa, the Franco and other Seigneur Rochereau reigned supreme. For the last fifteen years, all these different orchestras, all equally excellent and where everyone knows everyone else, have been answering each other with repeated 7″ EPs, in a deluge of black vinyl discs. Here, the Congolese from Brazzaville pose in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for these two delicious tracks – it’s a classic location: Shleu-Shleu was there in ’72 and Exile One will be there in two years! – Two rumbas, then, according to the rules of the art, first Isabelle Mvana Ya Kin and on the B-side, with its even more Latin brass, Macaro. To be enjoyed without moderation!
