🎉🎶🌍💿🔥 Last year, the Oriental Brothers celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. However, they hadn’t recorded anything for around twenty years. It was the Colombian label Palenque Records, specialising in Latin and African rhythms, that convinced them to do it again. And so they did, with Onye Rie Ibe Ya Erie, released at the end of September, only in digital format on BandCamp (for now?). Still led by Ferdinand Dansatch Opara, the Oriental Brothers International Band lay down five impeccable highlife tracks in the purest tradition of the genre they’ve been bringing to life since the 70s. And it’s an unexpected pleasure to dive back into this irresistible groove, played by some of the legends of the genre.
