Joseph van het Groenewoud grew up in Curaçao and Cuba before moving to Europe. In 1971, under the name Nico Gomez & his Afro Percussion, he produced Ritual, which has become a cult classic. Between boogaloo, Latin soul and bossa, a delicious mix of covers of standards (Caballo Negro, Samba de Una Nota So, Lupita…) and personal compositions by the most Belgian of Latin soulmen. A must-see!
