🎤🎸🎹🎺🎼🌍🕺Ozzidi is the band formed by singer and guitarist Sonny Okosun – or Okosuns, as they’re both called. It was with this group that the Nigerian achieved his first successes, including international ones, in the second half of the seventies. Sonny Okosuns Ozzidi continued to exist well into the 80s, before its leader changed registers to devote himself to Gospel music, which he practiced until the end of his life. In the meantime, Afro-funky guitars, screaming brass riffs and unleashed keyboards: in 1977, Papa’s Land was full of reggae, highlife and Afrobeat, paving the way for the hit Fire in Soweto, released the following year.
