Mogoya – Oumou Sangaré, 2017

,

🎤🌍🎸🎶💫 It was on the excellent Parisian label Nø Førmat! that the great Oumou Sangaré signed her return to song in 2017, after an eight-year absence. Mogoya highlights the need to question traditions and human relationships. The singer relies on a collective that is both European and Malian – listen to Guimba Kouyaté’s guitar – and successfully blends traditional African sounds with a very modern French touch. In addition, Tony Allen himself plays the drums on several tracks, Etienne Mbappé is a guest on Kounkoun, Valérie Belinga lends her voice to the backing vocals on Mali Niale… The backing vocals also feature the young Gabonese singer Pamela Badjogo, who is now on her own and whose second album ‘Kaba’ was released this year.
