I Remember Tahiti – Eddie Lund & His Tahitians, feat. Mila, 1964

,

🌺🎶🌴🌅🎸 American pianist Eddie Lund fell in love with Tahiti and moved there in 1938. He spent most of his musical career there, almost until his death in 1973. He adapted local melodies, adding island rhythms and North American influences. In the end, he created most of the folk repertoire we know today, contributing to the Polynesian imagination often conveyed by tourist brochures. With I Remember Tahiti, released in 1964, Eddie Lund is accompanied on a few tracks by the singer Mila, where we move from the rhythms and trances of Polynesian drums to almost Cajun flavors (listen to the accordion!). And always against a ukulele backdrop, the nostalgia of the great fiery skies of sunsets over the ocean, supported by a few notes of the inevitable Hawaiian guitar.
