It was in 1974 that Henry Gesner’s Select trio became Coupé Cloué, after the nickname of its leader, illustrating his qualities as a footballer. This third album, recorded in New York, was released in 1976. Two sides of the fine, swinging compas that is his trademark. A soft spot here for Zombi Filé and Marie-Claire, but the whole set is well worth the diversions!
