🎸🎹🎤🏝️ Alongside the Gramacks and Exile One, one of the other key bands of 70s Dominica is certainly Black Affairs, led by Anthony Gussie. Like their colleagues, Black Affairs navigated between cadence-lypso and reggae, making a name for themselves on their first album, in 1976, with the track Ça Moin Di Ou Fé, later renamed Aïe Mama and covered by Jeff Joseph. 76 was a busy year for Black Affairs, who released three albums, including this self-titled one on 3A Production. Bathed in organ and electric guitar riffs, the album gets off to a strong start with Cadence Colé. Swaying reggae comes to the fore with Danse Reggae, then the famous Difficile de Vie lends an African air to calypso. The end of the album gives pride of place to reggae, which Anthony Gussie continues to play to this day, from his base in La Réunion.
